Lawton, OK - While the month of April is designated as the Month of the Military Child, administrators, educators and support staff at Lawton Public Schools are receiving praise for their commitment to our military students.
\r\nThree staff members were awarded last week after Fort Sill announced their “Team Sill Oklahoma Pride Excellence in Education” winners.

Charles Kirchen, principal at Lawton High School, earned the title of Outstanding Administrator. Mr. Kirchen is being recognized for his dedication to actively educating military-connected students. Through his guidance, LHS was the first Purple Star High School within LPS.
\r\nThe Outstanding Educator award went to Ms. Sheila Maxson, a teacher at Eisenhower High School. A retired Army spouse, Ms. Maxon is committed to military students in and outside of the classroom. She understands the importance of connecting with all students through academics and daily interaction.
\r\nMs. Dawn Webb is a special education teacher assistant and earned the title of Outstanding Support Personnel Staff. She was nominated for her willingness to go above and beyond in guiding and educating students.
\r\nOn April 14, Garrison Commander, Colonel Rhett Taylor presented Excellence Awards to Mr. Kirchen, Ms. Maxon, and Ms. Webb. Congratulations to the winners and thank you for your dedication to our military students.
