I am so excited to have been selected to be the principal of Hugh Bish Elementary. My own two children attended Hugh Bish from kindergarten through 6th grade, so what an honor it is to come back! I began my career as an educator for Lawton Public Schools in 1979 as a 6th grade teacher at Douglass Elementary and later 4th and 5th grades at Whittier Elementary School. While teaching, I decided to continue my education and earned my Master’s degree from Cameron University in 1994 and pursued my counseling and administrative certification soon after. I was an elementary counselor for 13 years and worked at Swinney, Western Hills, and Whittier ElementarySchools.
As the academic leader of Hugh Bish, I hope to instill a love of learning and build strong character in all of the students in our school. I believe it is essential to build relationships with our families and ensure they are partners in their child’s educational success. My philosophy is that ALL students can learn and achieve academically, and as educators we relish in watching our students learn, blossom, and grow. Children are our most valuable resource and our future will be placed in their hands and in their hearts, and it is our job to prepare them.
