The Oklahoma City food bank provided a volunteer opportunity for our Gateway students. They spent the day packaging food items for many families in need. The students enjoyed being able to give back to the community.

3rd grade learned about Oklahoma history as they visited the Mattie Beal home, one of the oldest homes in Lawton. The kids were so well behaved and and got compliments from the ladies there! They learned about the Oklahoma land lottery and how Lawton became a town. #LVAanywhere

Mrs. Albert-Maez recently attended a workshop at OSU centered on bridging indigenous ways of knowing with western science in preparation for the total eclipse coming up on April 8. She said, "From indigenous understandings of nature, we learned about the impact of solar eclipses on the environment, such as insects, wildlife, and plants, which react to the solar eclipse as if it is all of the sudden night/dusk...We were trained on different ways of modelling the moon's phases to explain the eclipse, and most importantly safe viewing practices; including eclipse viewing glasses and a virtual live streaming option!"
